What is the free Discovery review?
It's a no-cost review and written report on where your mountain stands — what's strong, what's an opportunity, and what needs attention. You keep the report whether or not we work together. It's how almost every engagement starts, because it gets us both honest about the real situation before anyone talks scope or fees.
How do I get started?
Take the free resort assessment — a short intake that gives Josh the lay of the land before you ever get on a call. You'll find the link on nearly every page ("Take the assessment" / "Get Started"), or just email or call. From there we schedule a conversation.
What do you actually help with?
Five core areas: the free Discovery review; fractional and interim leadership (drop-in COO/advisor roles); branding and marketing revitalization; operational efficiency (snowmaking, lift ops, cost and throughput); and full ski-area analysis and strategy. Most engagements blend a couple of these around what your mountain needs most.
Who do you work with?
Independent ski areas and mountain resorts — the owner-operated and smaller operations that don't have big-corporate strategy departments. We're based in Wenatchee, Washington and work with mountains nationwide.
Do you work remotely or on-site?
Both. A lot of the analysis and planning happens remotely, but the hands-on parts — interim leadership, working a problem with your team, walking the operation — happen on the hill. We scope travel and on-site time to what the job actually requires.
What does it cost?
The Discovery review is free. Beyond that, every mountain is different, so we scope and price each engagement to fit your situation and budget — whether that's a one-time analysis, ongoing advisory, or a fractional leadership role. You'll always know the scope and cost before any paid work begins.
What makes Mountain Mindset different from other consultants?
The person giving the advice has actually done the job. Josh went from lift operator to general manager, managed multi-million-dollar budgets, and turned underperforming mountains profitable. You're getting advice from someone who has stood at the bottom of a lift in a whiteout and stared at a P&L that didn't add up — not a generic playbook.
What's the typical engagement like?
Four steps, no surprises: (1) Discovery — the free review; (2) The plan — priorities and a real, sequenced plan sized to your budget and season; (3) Execution — we help you do the work; (4) Results — we stay in the fight until the numbers move, then make sure it sticks.
What's MTN MIND / the coffee about?
MTN MIND is our small-batch coffee and gear — the rowdier cousin of the advisory work, same crew and same mountains. It helps keep the lights on between engagements, and it's fun. Browse it on the Coffee page.
